I was so glad to see the Staples toilet paper sale, too. I got as much as I could, knowing that the 16 double rolls really was 32 single rolls for 12 cents each. Alas, that kind of sale is rare. Who'd of thought Staples would be a good place to get toilet paper? Maybe we need to think outside the box to get good deals on T.P.!

Where did you find the adorable picture of the sprout in the cardboard roll and did it come with directions on how to fold it like that? If so, please tell me where I can find that? Thank you!

We also grind all our wheat from scratch. Just make sure you're storing it in the freezer to preserve it's nutrition or you'll lose all of it in as little as 72 hours or less.

Blessings!

Crack me up!!! I am so there with you sister! When I started this whole couponing thing 3 years ago I quickly learned that TP was my own personal biggie/must have item! Now it is not uncommon for me (with 5 at home still) to buy 6-10 packages when on sale. Hit a mega great deal a month ago when the Mgr at Meijer allowed me to get the 12 double rolls of Cottonelle for 1/2 priced, coupled with my $.50/1 printable and then hit mega savings when I got a $3 Catalina....essentially paying only $1 per package....total bummer I only had coupons for 6:) Now I am stressing as I have only two of those left....so funny!!!!

Annie, so you have been in the culture where it's optional - HAHA!! You know, I thought about the double roll/single roll dilemma and I just pay $0.25 whatever the size - I don't ration the kids' square usage..teehee.

We also have those essentials on hand always. I'm lucky to have a friend who will grind wheat berries so I get fresh wheat flour at the fraction of the cost. I usually get the rest of my necessities at Aldi like you. I've often wondered about dry milk powder. I've read that it's a saver to use as substitution for regular milk. Do you do that at all?

And you sound like a good lady to have around with duct tape and a machete on hand!

I have to laugh, because when we moved to France TP was a serious case of culture shock. So much so that when my mom and grandmother came to visit, they each left with several "samples rolls" to show folks back home. LOL!! Then, when we arrived in central Africa, it was just flat-out laughable. That said, take heart in knowing that we didn't have to get a Sears & Roebuck catalog shipped to us!

My rock bottom stock-up price is $0.20/roll. But, keep in mind that I count a double roll as 2 when I calculate - otherwise it's like comparing apples and duck eggs. The only similarity is that they're round.

My other can't-do-withouts are milk and flour since I cook from scratch so much. I've learned to keep a box of powdered milk and an extra bag of flour on hand at *all* times. These are multi-tasking life-savers... milk for cooking/drinking when my 7yo empties the gallon, bread, rolls, baked goods, etc. Like duct tape, inner tubes and a machete in Africa, milk and flour can fix nearly any (kitchen) situation in which I find myself! But, since they're never really on sale, I just make sure I grab some at Aldi when I'm anywhere near low.

Good luck on getting through this crisis!
