What happens when a friend of a friend that you kinda met once happens an unfortunate diagnosis and you’re a blogger? Well, that friend works with other friends of her friend and decide that the world wide web can play a role in the unfortunate diagnosis. That’s where my (and your) involvement comes in!
Elizabeth, or as her friends call her “E” was recently diagnosed with “C” or as you probably know, cancer. E had a complete hysterectomy just a few weeks ago to remove suspicious masses from both of her ovaries. During the surgery, there was also a small amount of cancer on her colon which was removed as well. The praise in this is that the doctor is confident he removed all traces of the cancer. Yet, E’s fight in all of this is still continuing.
When I heard about all of this from Jenny and read E’s post about the diagnosis myself, I immediately told her I was in for whatever needed to happen to help the family out. I don’t know this family, but I know that E is a wife and a mommy to three littles. She and her husband also work full-time with Athletes in Action so they know it all rests in His hands. Oh, and she’s a blogger so that practically makes us best friends even though we don’t really know each other :)
In all seriousness, there is a plan to do something and that’s where you come in. There are several bloggers participating in this campaign that is being called “GimmE Five!” We are asking you – wonderful readers whom we likely haven’t met before – to donate $5 or more to help E and family during her chemotherapy and recovery. What will your gifts be used for? Well, this…
“All gifts will be used for expenses incurred by the Koproski family during E’s months of chemotherapy. Since E is a stay-at-home mom, these expenses will likely include paying for child care, transportation, house cleaning, and grocery shopping but will also likely include many ‘unexpected’ expenses that at this point we cannot imagine, and other things like insurance co-pays, and any adaptive equipment or items that E might need to be comfortable at home. Rest assured that E and Steve are grateful and humbled by this effort and will be the best stewards of your generous gifts.”
I can’t imagine receiving a cancer diagnosis. Then to know that to win, the fight includes extensive surgery and chemotherapy. You want to fight with all that you have for your kids. In order to do that, it means taking every bit of energy to fight and not get the play around with the kids. This change in lifestyle will be obviously traumatic on E enough. Imagine what the kids (ages 5, 3 and 3) will feel like since mommy can’t give 110% to them during all of this.
Please consider giving $5 (or more) by clicking on the big button above. Rest assured ALL money will be given directly to the Koproski family. Please also send a lot of prayers their way and consider leaving E a message of encouragement on her blog when you think about it. Her writing is actually quite funny even in the midst of all of this! You will be pretty entertained from her old posts too:)
And, from me and the bloggers listed below who are posting on this, we want to THANK YOU for your gift and prayers!
I just gave my 5! This is every mother’s worst nightmare and I’ll be praying for this family. Please keep updating us on this!
Heather, THANK YOU so much!! E updated her blog today. She’s got a lot she’s dealing with. Keep praying!
