I was excited to have Performance Bikes sponsor the Holiday Bash. Caleb really did need a new bike, as he’s just had hand-me-downs and the most recent one is outgrowing him. And, this bike is so much nicer than any bike we have purchased before.
Since everything is shipped to us (or, ya know, how else would I get it), I came into the driveway one day greeted by a huge, and I mean, super big, box a few weeks ago. As I drove up, I just saw the logo and name on the box, but nothing really stood out with regards to the contents inside. And, I was glad too since our boys were with me and the big box held Caleb’s gift :)
I was totally surprised to see the box that size. If you pick up a box at the store, it’s in a much smaller box. Well, the reason the box was so big is because it came fully assembled! That was like a Christmas present to my husband, right there! Performance Bikes will fully assembly any bike you order online as part of the “Bike in a Box” program. Depending on the time you have, this can be a huge time saver and a cost saver as well since most stores charge a fee for assembly.

But, seriously, even with all of that. They had me at fully assembled :) Seriously, with a twist of the handle bars and the bike is ready for some road action!

With four children we have been fortunate enough to recieve “new to you bikes” or hand me downs from relatives. It has been a huge money saver for us plus it teaches our children a lesson in recycling :) If we are lucky enough to win this bike it would be for my oldest son who will surely need a new one before long.

We’ve been given bikes by relatives and purchased second-hand bikes. I don’t recall ever buying a NEW bike! My favorite bike purchase was a tandem my husband and I bought when we were just dating. We found it on the Internet back in the days when looking for use items online was a whole new way of shopping (probably 15 years ago!) The last time we bought a bike was two years ago. While it came assembled, it came assembled POORLY and we had to exchange it for a different model so they could fix whatever was wrong. I think that may be the difference between buying a bike a sporting goods store versus a bike shop!
I have never purchased a bike. I had one as a kid, and my hubby and I really want to get bikes. This year our kids are really over due so this would be perfect timing.
