From our first giveaway on Monday, it seems that several people have some supply shopping left to do! Well, this Backpack full of supplies from Office Max can help to mark one more thing off your list!

We received the above Hearts by Schoolio backpack and supplies from Office Max. It is the cutest stuff…for a little girl :) My little niece got this to get herself ready to go back to school! It has a matching lunch bag, fabulous supplies and the cute backpack. There are several different styles to choose from. Rest assured, there are some styles appropriate for boys as well. Those are very cute too!

The Office Max Schoolio line has a selection of fashion-forward, budget-friendly school supplies with matching accessories. Many products also come with unique embellishments, including a mirrored notebook, glittered binders, and charms attached to rulers, keychains and notebooks. And, you know for little girls glitter is imperative. For boys, or my boys at least, something sports would be :)

If you’re into social networking, you can follow Office Max on Twitter and Facebook!

Office Max is providing me (1) Backpack Full of Supplies to give away. The average retail value is $100. To enter in this giveaway, you have (4) forms of entry, which are:

Leave me a comment and share with me what you pack for school (or work) lunches. This is always a challenge for me for the boys lunches. I get so sick of sandwiches. I’m trying to convince them to take a thermos so they can have some actual substance. I’d love to hear your ideas.

My standard is PB & J since there are no refrigerators and it is the one sandwich that won’t spoil! I know they get sick of it…..for a treat, I will put a Lunchable in with a lot of ice packs! My kids like fruit and crackers too.

One of my kid’s favorites is salami and crackers. Not the healthiest, but a nice change from sandwiches now and then. My oldest likes salad, so sometimes I’ll pack him a salad with some deli meat cut up on top. He likes that. I’m desperate for new ideas too! They are tired of sandwiches.

We certainly do a lot of pb&j, but my sons also like thermoses with leftovers such as chili, stew, and pasta. Cold pasta and tortellini salads are good too. My sons also seem to love anything I wrap in a tortilla, so I often load a lot of veggies (lettuce, shredded carrots, etc.) into a whole wheat tortilla with some sliced cheese and a little salsa, mustard, or salad dressing.

A GOOD thermos is the way to go, you have so many more options. But don’t waste your money on a cheap one, this is definitely a “you get what you pay for” item. Soups, leftovers, etc, it’s also great for salads of all types! My grand daughter takes her’s almost every day. :)

I make our own “freezer treats” in the summer time, (chopped fruit, lowfat yogurt and V8 Fusion juice blended than frozen in the little popcicle molds).. I have also found that you can make this mix, freeze it in a small thermos and Bam (!) by lunch time your kids (or you!) have a creamy frozen treat. My son thinks he is always getting ice cream, but I feel good about giving it to him! (BTW the consistancy is usually the best if you can pre freeze one of the fruit items your blending)

If you like tuna salad then you’ll love that. My boys like using a thermos, so that is half the battle. I always have go-gurts or puddings and applesauce and fruit cups and granola bars on hand. My kids are in high school and it’s no longer “cool” to pack your lunch :-) but when they did, I would occasionally send leftovers – pieces of ham, cold roast chicken or cold roast beef, etc. It didn’t need to be heated and was a good source of protein. We like variety and my daughter who is 8 has enjoyed something different each day in her lunch box. Now keep in mind that she likes cold food ( she gets that from me…sorry) so we have been able to pack salad with diced grilled chicken breast, chicken burritos using the xtreme fiber tortillas, and her very favorite which is a grilled cheese quesadilla with chopped veggies (she carries salsa for dipping). Of course we have a thermos for soup or pasta days and we do sandwiches or wraps on occasion as well. She takes fruit and a veggie as sides each day. We try to offer variety there as well.

During the week lunches for my family are relatively easy. We cook a larger portion of dinner the evening before and pack the leftovers for lunch later in the week. Fortunately we all have access to microwaves during the day which makes reheating easy. On a day when there are no leftovers we make wraps, sandwiches, or eat out with our colleagues (usually once every other week). Our daycare provider always comments on how good my son’s (2-1/2 years old) lunch smells and often asks for recipes. He’s one of the few that will eat everything he brings! This has been a huge time and money saver for us.

My middle son is better with variety: corn dogs, thermos with mac-n-cheese or mega noodle soup, turkey roll ups (deli slices with cheese rolled up together), Ritz Bitz or Lunchables. My youngest will take goldfish, raisins and turkey rolls! Wish they’d try pita pockets or quesadillas!

Sometimes, I use a tin to fill with steamed rice and a Korean side like radish kimchi or fish. The tin can keep food temperatures constant if packed right. It’s similar to how my mom used to pack my and my sister’s lunches in Korea, just much smaller.

Often, I send leftovers. We have some Rubbermaid snap-on lid containers (so the girls won’t sling soup/spaghetti when trying to pry off regular lids!), and the girls are allowed to use a microwave in the lunchroom at school. (wow!)

The girls will eat just about anything, so it’s easy. About once a month, one will say, “We haven’t had PB&J in a long time. Could we have that tomorrow?” I make sure to send carrots or celery to offset the decadence!

I discovered bento boxes last year so I would make things like fried rice, potstickers, bbq pork, and fruit. My kids love that. When I was feeling less creative we did sandwiches, chips and fruit.

I like getting those yogurts that come in tubes and then freeze them, not only do they work as an ice pack in the lunchbox but by lunch time they’re either melted some but still cold or still somewhat frozen so then it’s like ice cream.
