The Lebanon and Maineville Kroger will not allow you to get the Sobe water free as of today. When you give them the B1G1 coupons, they will only take $.49 for each coupon you have. I was able to get it free from last Wednesday until today since the coupons refresh on the SOBE website each day but today when I went, they said everyone before was doing it wrong and since you are only paying $.49 for the item they can only take $.49 off. Have you experienced this same thing?
Alicia, well now that doesn’t make much sense does it? You only pay $.49 if you get 8 items though. Granted, most everyone would but it just doesn’t make sense. I don’t think that’s according to their policy either.
I had a cashier take off $.99 for the bogo, and the bagger corrected the cashier to only take off $.49 stating Sobes were $.49 as part of the buy 8/get $4 off sale. I corrected the bagger by saying if I get two Sobes, they’re $.99 each and the bogo coupon would take off $.99. If I buy 8 Sobes, they’re still $.99 each and I get $4 deducted from my total, not $.50 off each participating item. The price for Sobe does not magically become $.49, even though that what the sale implies happens.
To help my case, I used a Kroger store coupon for a free box of Nature Valley Granola Bars in the same transaction, which took off $2.49 without any problems. If Sobes become $.49, shouldn’t that coupon only have taken off $1.99?
It’s semantics, but you’re paying $.99 for the Sobe. So the bogo should take off $.99. I say fight for your free Sobe.
I had the same thing happen to me today and ended up in a heated argument with the store manager. When I used your example of the Kroger coupon for the free Nature Valley bars, he said “I’m sorry you can’t cheat the system again this week” I am extremely ticked off not only for being ripped off for 2.50 but also for being called a cheat and in effect a thief and have filled a BBB complaint and am not going to let this rest. The unit price on the receipt is .99 not .49. My goal is to get that manager fired.
Wow, Scott. Sorry you had such a bad experience. I’d definitely contact Corporate about the issue. I know they do have serious issues with coupon fraud and I understand some manager’s concerns. But, when we’re trying to do what we know is allowed, it is a little frustrating. I hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction :)
I’m curious… after I purchase my initial 8 items, do any other qualifying items get the 50 cents off as well? Or do I need to buy an additional 8? Thx!!
Liz, to receive the discount just purchase in quantities of 8. You will receive the $.50 discount when you buy that way.
I don’t see the Chex Mix bars in the ad, and I couldn’t find them in the store. Aren’t they usually with the granola bars? And where are they listed in the ad?

The Softsoap coupon listed for .35, which doubles to .70 found in SS 7/25 has already expired 8/14, so no good for Kroger’s 8/15 weekly specials.
