Giveaway: How does a Year of Tide Detergent Sound?

by Savings Lifestyle: Andrea on January 25, 2010

Tide Coldwater

Well, it’s actually 10 coupons for a FREE Bottle of Tide Coldwater Liquid Detergent. Each bottle will do 26 loads! So, close enough, right??!!

I will be honest, I use several brands of laundry detergent. As you probably know, when it comes to saving, you have to expand your brands a bit. However, when the stars align, and Kroger does the amazing Instant Savings promotions, Tide is in my cart. You can get it as cheap as some of the other brands and that’s when I stock up!

The Tide Coldwater line is a newer detergent line for Tide. Honestly, when I got the offer from Tide to receive a year’s supply of this specific detergent, and to give some away, I was excited. We wash all of our clothes in cold water (and have for years). It has never been done for energy savings, mostly because I know it can clean the same. I think our clothes are perfectly fine when washed with cold water (even our whites – GASP, I know). And, without any surprises Coldwater cleaned our clothes great using cold water! For the record, we rarely use bleach on our clothing either so now you probably really think we’re crazy, huh??!!

Honestly, I don’t know the science behind it all, but I am guessing that the formulation of the detergent is what actually cleans the clothes, not the temperature of the water. Again, I’m not a scientist but that’s just my layman’s guess :) According to Tide, you can save up to 50% of energy in every load using Tide Coldwater with an HE Washer. Now, if only I had one of those babies!

Tide has generously offered me 3 coupon packets to give away. Each coupon booklet will contain 10 coupons for FREE Bottle of Tide Coldwater Liquid Detergent (26 loads). Tide is part of the Kroger promotion for the next two weeks, so I will make sure I pick the winner and the booklets immediately so you can buy up your Tide and earn $5 on top of getting it for FREE (assuming you live near a Kroger, of course)!

To enter in this giveaway, you have several forms of entry, which are:

Leave me a comment and share what day your do your laundry? Another thing you are gonna freak about (I’m sure), my husband does the majority of the laundry. He usually gets it done on Sunday. Whatever he doesn’t get finished, I finish up on Monday. YES, I do have the world’s best husband, I know!! :)

I start our laundry on Saturday afternoons. I like to work out 6 days a week (take Sundays off) so I do laundry after I get back from the YMCA. That way I don’t have sweaty clothes laying around the house.

There is laundry at some step of the process in our house almost every day. In the dryer waiting to be folded, in the basket waiting to be put away … and yes sometimes even in the washer waiting to go to the dryer (or be rewashed if it sat there too long)

I try to limit laundry to one or two days a week. Usually Tuesday’s and Friday’s. I used to do laundry whenever there was enough for a load, but then I felt like I never got a break from the folding and putting away. This way when it is laundry day, I get it all done and put away and don’t have to worry about laundry for another 3 days!

I don’t have a regular laundry day. With only 2 of us at home, it’s done when I have a load. More important to me is running the machines during time of off-peak electrical use so I get cheaper rates for the electricity I’m using. Weekends are always off-peak so I usually have a t least one load to do if we’re in town.

I do AT LEAST 2 loads every single day, and some days more, like when towels and whites are ready to be washed. We only use Tide, because I have stupidly sensitive skin and my little boy seems to be taking after me. We also have a HE washer and dryer (major Christmas present last month!) With our need to use Tide, we generally buy both that, and Downy, at Costco. Much cheaper per oz, plus those huge bottles last so long that we don’t have to spend that money on our weekly grocery trips. I love that!

My husband and I share the load (literally) pretty evenly. We have a 6-month old so we do a couple of loads during the week and at least 2 loads on the weekend. One thing I like to do in the evening is fold laundry while I’m waiting for the baby to fall asleep. I put our son in his crib when he’s quiet and then stand in the hall folding laundry. If he cries, I’ll go in and rock him a bit more. I’ve gotten a lot of laundry folded this way over the past couple of months!

I actually try to do two loads of laundry every day but Sunday. I, too, have one of the worlds best husbands – he folds most of the laundry while he watches sports on TV on the weekends. I have three boys (four if you count hubby) and have just recently started using Tide – it is the only thing that I can get to work on most of their clothes without having to wash them two or three times. Thanks!!

I don’t have a specific day; but if I had to pick I would Wednesday. I have twin 4 yr old girls who have decided they like to try on several outfits throughout the day, so the laudry seems to be piling up quickly but I don’t have an idea what is clean or dirty. We have just started using coldwater tide and it seems to work just as well. This is the one thing I am still brand specific on.

I try to do a load of laundry every day. I have a 6 month old baby, so the laundry accumulates fast. We also live in an apartment, and the washing machine and dryer they furnish are the stacked on top of each other kind, and therefore, you cannot wash huge loads at a time, like a standard washing machine can. I also wash in both warm and cold water. I’m really excited about this give-a-way!!!

I usually start laundry on saturdays but don’t get it done until probably monday… I only use tide coldwater, so pleeeeeeaaaaaaase pick me. I used to use any brand and generics especially, but ended up losing so many of my babies’ clothing that I had planned to save. Once I started using tide the stains would come off much better. I always hope to get tide coupons and hit a sale at the same time. If that doesn’t happen then I have to buy it at Costco (which is not as cheap as if I can get in on sale w/ coupon).

I subscribe to your emails. I do laundry just about every third day, so no set day for me. And I LOVE to do laundry. My family says it’s a sickness that I enjoy it so much, but I love for my clothes to smell good. I recently purchased Tide Coldwater for HE that is fairly new to the market, and it’s great so far!!!

I do 1-2 loads each day, M-F. I have it all broken down. DH’s jeans/dark work shirt Mon, his lights/whites Tues, sheets/towels Wed, my darks & whites (2 loads) Thurs, “Sunday” clothes Fri. Sat & Sun I don’t usually do any. I will have to figure out where to fit Baby’s laundry in once he or she is here :) I hate folding and putting away a huge mountain of laundry, so this way I can “do the laundry” in just a couple minutes :)

I have been teaching the 7 yo dd, but she has got a long way to go, By the time we went through 26 bottles of Tide, she just might have the habit down. That would be a cool story to share with her years down the road, “I taught you to do laundry with FREE soap, and you need HOW much money for the college laundrymat?”. LOL

Hee, hee…you make me laugh. What day to I do laundry. The better question is what day don’t I do laundry. I have four kids 6 and under, I do laundry every day. Very occasionally a day will go by where I skip but I feel it the next day! This would be a great giveaway to win! Thanks for a great website! Keep up the good work!

First of all, AWESOME giveaway. Second, I like to start my laundry on Monday. Depending on how much I have I may not get it all done, so I try to finish it up on Tuesday. Then later in the week a load of towels or bedsheets. There are 5 of us in our family so I could do 5 load of clothing, plus the extra loads, which is A LOT to get done in one day!!

We are a family of 7 so there is constantly some stage of laundry in the works in our house. I do laundry every day, at least I try to, or else I’ll spend a Monday or Tuesday and finish 8 or 9 loads – washed, dried, and put away.

My teenagers do most of the laundry in our household because I am a single mother of four. Laundry is an everyday chore and they take turns doing it. Needless to say, we use A LOT of Tide!

I tend to do laundry all week long. I do a load after I’ve got upstairs to supervise bathing. Well, not really supervise, but make sure she doesn’t stay in the shower ALL night long.
So, pretty much every night I’m doing something with laundry.

I live in the city and don’t have a washer/dryer in my apartment anymore (what a mistake that was!) so we have to go to the laundromat to wash our clothes. I end up going whenever I can convince my significant other to help me schlep all of the dirty laundry a couple of blocks to the laundromat. It’s time consuming and a big pain in the butt, but he and I try to go to the nearby shops or a cafe and have a mini-date while doing an otherwise mundane task. I know this is rather long-winded, but I just discovered your as I began couponing last week to save while I finish my nursing degree, and it is SO helpful! I was really overwhelmed when I started, but I’m getting free groceries like a pro now! I’m still on the fence about swagbucks, but I’m giving it a go. Thanks for all of the help! :)

I wash in cold water as well, mine is to keep gas costs down. I would be overjoyed if I won a booklet for the free tide.

Seems I am doing laundry whenever I can fit it in, or when my oldest complains her dark jeans are dirty. I never seem to get caught up, but it’s not for lack of effort. Saturday seems to be the day I get the most done. Luckily, the hubby washes his own clothes! It’s how we used to do it before 3 kids, and it’s just stayed the same. I figure it’s good for him!

Typically, I do laundry all week long, every week. The deal in our household is that I am in charge of washing all of the laundry and my girlfriend folds and puts it away. I am not the neatest person, so I am banned from that aspect of the laundry! This method seems to be pretty successful and allows each of us a little more “me time”.

My hubby does our laundry most of the time too (a blessing even though he ends up putting sweaters and some of my shirts that I usually hang to dry in the dryer…SHRINKAGE).
Mostly, I try to stick to a schedule and get laundry done on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but with two kids and my hubby and I working, it tends to pile up so it really ends up being random days. Thanks goodness I have his help.
I don’t know what I would do without him. :-) I am also thankful my 16 year old stepson does his own laundry.

There are seven people in our house. So laundry happens every day! Each person has their own day of the week to do their own. I do mine and my husband’s, and whenever I think about it (usually the weekend) I go down and throw in the towels, linens, tableclothes, etc. Our washing machine stays busy!

Free Tide sounds amazing. I love the stuff!

hi I do laundry almost every other day. We have two babies here — a 16 month old and a 5 month old, in addition to two adults. Needless to say — the laundry does pile up!! It’s just so much easier to stay on top of laundry if we do it more frequently instead of waiting for it all to pile up.

when do i do laundry? well, the more appropriate question would be when DON”T i do laundry. i have a family of six, so we do laundry every day. i throw in a load before we all leave for the day for school and such; then when i get off school, i pick up the kids, go home and switch the clothes to the dryer and usually get a second load started. rather than a laundry basket, we have a laundry “mountain”.

As far as laundry, no specific day, just when I have enough to do. And my husband does his own laundry, he is very specific about how he sorts the laundry, so it is less stressful for both of us if we each do our own. I will, if asked, put his in once he has it all sorted out.

I do laundry 5 days out of 7 during the week. When my kids were younger, I only did it on Sunday, but as they’ve grown so have our laundry needs. Sometimes I think I was put on this earth for the sole purpose of doing laundry.

I do the majority of my laundry on Monday mornings. it is the slowest work wise (work out of my house)…… if we want our clothes intact, dh can’t touch the laundry, except to fold, :) Tide is my brand of choice, in the original scent :) I used to be a Surf gal, but kids switched me over

I’m a subscriber and have recommended your site to many of my friends that like myself find couponing a very necessary way of life. But now I really enjoy getting the deals and your feed really really helps. I do laundry on the weekends and my son who is now 16 does his own, so I do about 3 loads for my husband, my daughter and myself. I remember my mom using Tide and telling me to wash everything in cold water, would love a chance at winning the year of coupons.

Can you tell I have ALOT of laundry?! I have 5 kids ranging from 17 to 4 years old! There is no way I could keep up with ALL of the laundry myself! Everyone has their own laundry day. Sunday is Mom and Dad’s, Monday is DS14, Tuesday is DS4, Wednesday DD10, Thursday DD17, Friday DD16, Saturday Mom and Dad and misc laundry! We do lots of loads of clothes! This has worked great for us. I still help DS4, but the others do theirs on their day! They hate to share laundry days so they are pretty good about doing it on their assigned days!

I have went through 3 washing machines in the last 8 years. I try to stock up on tide every time it is on sale since most in the household are allergic to most other laudry deterents but tide.

WOW!! The response to this shows how many people, like me, LOVE Tide. I can honestly say up until the last 6 months, Tide is the only detergent I bought!! I have bought a few others in the past 6 mos, simply due to price, but will hunt down a Tide buy regardless!! We do laundry as needed, evey other day or so, and rely on Tide to get the stains out. I have bought a couple others recently,( pay attention P&G, you need to keep promoting so we can afford it ), but Tide is still my fave!! I think it has saved some clothes by getting them clean when others wouldn’t!!

He does laundry on mondays usually and Thursdays. I just wish i could get him to hang my clothes instead of laying them on the bed. at least he washes and drys the clothes though..

Every day is laundry day over here ! With 4 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 5 beds, baseball season, football season, basektball season, etc I am always doing laundry ! I do at least 3 loads a day just to keep up. Every day is someone’s day ……..On Monday , it is my oldest son’s Daniel ‘s day. I will strip his bed down & wash his bed linens. Then Tuesday is my other’s son’s day and I will wash his bed linens and so one and so on.There is no way I could do all bed sheets and blankets on one certain day. The kids would be sleeping on the floor in sleeping bags if I did that because they’d never get all done ! LOL And then I’d have to wash the sleeping bags ! I just signed up for emails and on Facebook…..:) Looking forward to it !

Every day is laundry day over here ! With 4 kids, a husband, 2 dogs, 2 cats, baseball season and practice year round, football season, basketball season I always have plenty to wash. I have to do about 3 loads a day just to keep up. Each day I have assigned to one person. Monday is my oldest son’s day. That means I take off all his bed linens and blankets and wash them. Tuesday is my next son and so on and so on. If I did everyone’s bed sheets and blankets all on the same day the kids would be sleeping in sleeping bags on the floor because all the was did not get done, LOL. And then I’d have to wash the sleeping bags ! LOL I just signed up for emails and became a fan on Facebook. Looking forward to it ….:)

I subscibe to your AWESOME feed. I found that I do better doing laundry everyday. I put a load in and rotate a load to the dryer then fold a load. Repeat next day. It seems less overwhelming so me that way. I Try to use Cold water everychance I get. However, I make sure to do Bed linens in hot water. Recommended by an allergist.

I try to fold as soon as the clothes come out of the dryer (don’t like to iron) and the kids put away their basket each day. It is part of our daily routine : )

It depends. I generally do laundry on Thursday, my DF and I are both free in the afternoon and we can head to the laundrymat together. However, if it’s our monthly trip to visit our parents we’ll save the laundry for the weekend to do it at their houses. We’re still technically college students…so it’s okay. o_~

We do laundry just about everyday of the week! With 5 in the house and 3 of them being 8 and under there is always plenty to do! And I always use Tide, tried a few others and I wasn’t as happy. . . I hate spending that much on detergent, but it does the best job. If I win this it will be a big help on the budget! Thanks!

If my washer doesn’t run every day, it feels neglected. We have a Maytag front loader that is almost ten years old. When we bought it, we thought it was huge, and I joked that when the bathrooms were full we could wash our youngest in it. That machine is dwarfed by some of the latest models. And our youngest dwarfs it too.

Well, I have the best intentions of doing laundry on Monday so it’s usually not finished until Tuesday and then doesn’t get put away until Wednesday. Forwhatever reason, I rarely get towels folded and put away before the weekend is over and then the vicious cycle starts all over again.

  • Melanie - January 27, 2010 @ 4:10 pm

We are a family of 6, so laundry day is everyday for us! My oldest son’s job is to start a new load everyday (somtimes two) and then move it over to the dryer. When it’s done, I sort it into smaller baskets (each child has their own and my husband and I have one) and then everyone is responsible to put their own laundry away. Having 3 sons who like to play in the mud, muck and dirt, I can tell you from experience that nothing cleans like Tide! I’d be ecstatic to win this giveaway! Tide just hasn’t been in our budget lately…and oh man, I sure do I miss it!

Honestly I don’t have a particular laundry day, just whenever I feel like it and notice the hampers are overflowing! My husband doesn’t even know how to work our washer and dryer and they are old and not complex at all! Lucky you!

I do at least one load of laundry every day.Between sweaty karate clothes,2 teenagers, and a very active toddler, it’s the only way I can keep Mt. Washmore to a minimum.
I’m so jealous that your husband does laundry-mine thinks the “underwear and sock fairy” deposits clean clothes in his drawers. I told him this “fairy” needs a raise, lol.

They’re the only two things I never seem able to get really good stock-up deals on, and I always seem to run out when there are no coupons or deals going on. Pick me! And next, have a toilet paper giveaway!

We do laundry at our home everyday. Economic stress has given my husband and I the opportunity to share our home with our son, daughter-in-law and 2 small grandchildren. Imagine the laundry for 6 each week!

Wish I could say we had a designated day to do laundry, but we just do it as needed. Gotta say, my wife would love me if I ended up winning free detergent!

As a full time teacher, mom to 3 great kids, and a grad student…I do laundry any day of the week….usually when someone is in a panic with “no clean clothes”. But for me…it is Tide and ONLY Tide….for all 23 years of marriage!

We do not have a “set day” to do laundry. We usually wait until we need something or the pile becomes “Mount Washmore” as I call it. I just start throwing in loads before I leave and have my hubby change them when he gets home and round and round we go….but with both of us working full time, him going to college full time, and an almost 5 year old and a 19 month old….it is the best we can do!!!!!! Plus, they give me plenty of stains!!!

Laundry night is Sunday night, after all the farm chores are done and before the work week starts again in earnest. It might not get folded until Wednesday or Thursday, but the intent is there. Thanks for the email updates and tweets.

I do laundry about every other day, essentially once our basket is full. My husband is a runner and has tons of laundry from his daily running gear. In the winter he wears so many layers it seems like as soon as I empty the bin it’s full again. Thankfully he helps me with my least favorite part of laundry, folding the clothes :)

I usually do the bulk of my laundry on Satursday, but occasionally have to do some loads in the middle of the week. I already use Tide as its the only kind my husband’s skin doesn’t react to.
