Giveaway: Bob Evans and Mimi’s Cafe

by Savings Lifestyle: Andrea on November 12, 2009

Bob Evans Mimis Cafe

Last month, several bloggers in the area went on a tour of on of a newly designed Bob Evans facility. I was bummed I had to cancel at the last minute since our son had an asthma attack. But, I know the gals had fun (several of the #bigdealmoms went) and they enjoyed their brunch after the tour.

I have yet to try Mimi’s Cafe, but I am planning on going with my BFF. She has been several times and just raves over it. Seriously, whenever there is a coupon she reminds me that we need to visit! We will be going there soon!

Actually, it got me thinking of something. Do you go Black Friday shopping? I know one of the traditions my mom has is to get up at the crack of dawn (you know the time, the roosters aren’t even awake yet!) and then have breakfast after all the deal shopping is done. Both Bob Evans and Mimi’s Cafe would be great places to enjoy breakfast after a marathon shopping morning!

So, even though I missed the event, Bob Evans still sent me along some goodies anyway. And, the best part, they sent me along some to share with you!! I have two items to give away: a $50 Bob Evans Gift Card and a $50 Mimi’s Cafe Gift Card. To enter in this giveaway, you have several forms of entry, which are:

Leave me a comment and tell me if you brave the elements on Black Friday. I went shopping on Black Friday once. I didn’t get up early, we went out around 9a. I might actually go out this year though. Or, I could just stay at home to shop online and then go to breakfast anyway :)

I will definitely go out on Black Friday. Not to a mall (no way), but usually to Walmart & Kohls for a few good steals, then back home for some online black friday shopping. :) (And I already subscribe).

I really like scoring the black Friday deals and I’ve been able to do it for the last 2 years while DH was away from the retail industry. He is back this year, so I know he’ll be working that day and I’ll have to stay home with the kids.

Andrea, it would be great to see a post on Black Friday/Cyber Monday online shopping. I might have to go that route this year and I have no idea what I’m doing. Any tips for strategies, what to do, etc.?? Help me, please!

I am so there. I have been day dreaming about black Friday. What am I going to do with the kids….They are not going……Who will go with me?….and so on. I think I’m more excited about finding a great than buying Christmas gifts. I am pathetic and I am ok with it. :)

I love to black friday shop except that the last two years I have been out of state for a vacation so no shopping for me. I have to map out my shops and then hand over my list and money to my MIL to go for me.

Totally go shopping every year with my mom. One year I had a 6 week old. We started at 4 a.m. and when the baby woke up went home and fed her. Then we would go back out until she needed to eat again. Love shopping on Black Friday.

I will be going out early on Black Friday. Too many great deals to pass up. Last year, I went to Wal-Mart at 7 am and the items that went on sale at 5am were almost gone. So, I am planning on going whenever the sale starts. I hope to be done and home by 9!!!

  • Amber - November 12, 2009 @ 2:05 pm
    19

I have gone out a few times – only worth it if the sales are really good and can’t be had later. I actually like the new trend of outlets opening at midnight on Thanksgiving – that’s easier than getting up early. I might participate this year if the same sales aren’t valid online.

most of the time, we shop from the comfort of our own home on black friday. however, this year we’ll be visiting family in st louis, so i do plan to get out early and see what all the fuss is about.

Yes, we will definitely be out Black Friday. My whole family goes out. We usually have a group of three or four in different parts of the metroplex. If someone doesn’t get what they want we can call the other group and they will check their store. We tag-team shop and are done usually by 10am and meet for brunch! It is tradition and I can not wait for my daughter to be old enough to participate.

I am ABSOLUTELY going out shopping on Black Friday. I used to be scared of it, but now I know that’s when the SERIOUS shoppers are out. We all know what we want, and we go & get it – none of this wandering around the store, looking to see what they have, and if it’s what I want. My SIL insists that the family come to OH for Thanksgiving so that she can participate in the tradition – she gets most of her Christmas shopping done on that day.

Every year 3 of my nieces and I go out. We start on Thanksgiving day pouring over the ads to decide where we want to go. We usually get together about 5 AM and then take a break for breakfast after we have hit the places we need to get to first and then go at it some more. Even if we didn’t buy a thing it’s a great girl’s day out!

I LOVE to shop on Black Friday! I wait all year, and spend tons of time prepping, making my lists of what to buy and when to be where. Being a stay-at-home mom, I love getting out with the crowds, making new friends in lines at 3am waiting for stores to open, and the fun of dragging all your stuff home exhausted at 10 in the morning. I love going out on Black Friday. I love going early and standing the lines. Even if I don’t have anything big I am trying to get, I enjoy participating and going to see the unadvertised deals.

I have shopped black friday’s in the past. It depends on what you want and if you are willing to handle the crowds and long lines for it. OfficeMax had some great deals a few years back. You have to be patient. Don’t know about this year. Haven’t seen any deals worth getting up that early for.

I LOVE the prices on Black Friday is the only thing that makes me get out in that mess of a crowd!! :) I try to be there at opening for the deals that I’m really interested in. The other stores I try to just make it to as I get there.

I usually end up going out shopping on Black Friday, and probably will try to pick up a few deals again this year. I no longer go to malls much, and probably won’t that day, but depending on sales will probably hit a few stores. My Mom and I used to go to the Mall, but too much for her now. I do miss this “crazy time” with her, and have to remember to shop other days with her at local stores – we forget how much this means to our parents sometimes!! Great memories – She lives down the street so we do plenty together still, but … Can’t beat the love of family!!

I braved Black Friday for the first time last year and it wasn’t too bad. I knew exactly what I wanted and used several reusable shopping to carry my items instead of a cart. It was much easier to manuveur through the crowd. I will go again this year if anything catches my eye.

My husband and I have gone for the last several years. He loves to get the Sears deals. But the gift cards at the door aren’t as popular of a promotion anymore since company’s are cutting back. The deals don’t seem as good either. I tend to go for a couple specific items (really good deals), but the online shopping has taken over most of the gift items.

I love black friday shopping. My mom, sister and I leave the house about 5am. After the shopping we go to Jack-in-the-Box drivethru for their breakfast sandwich!

To show you how dedicated I am to the tradition of BF, 3 years ago my Daughter was born on 11/14 (via c/section) and I STILL went out. I obviously couldn’t drive (or walk to far) but we still had fun. I normally drive, and it was nice to be a passenger. I did cut the morning short and was ony gone about 2.5 hours while DH stayed home with the kids. We were just pulling into the driveway when DH called to tell me that Kaelyn wanted to nurse! :)

The last time I went out for Black Friday was when my now 8 year old was riding around in my belly at 8 1/2 mos. gestation. People were actually pushing me because I was walking too slow! Now I just send my husband out with a list. He loves the thrill of the chase!

We don’t go out for Black Friday beyond going to get a Christmas tree. We try to get presents online or beforehand, so there’s no scrambling for gifts or worrying about last minute plans.

I have been out on Black Friday three times: once with just my sister, once with her and one of my best friends, and once with my sister and another friend. We’ve always gone late night, between midnight until almost 9am. I find it amusing to watch other shoppers because I’m usually already finished, or close to it, shopping for others, so I enjoy the energy and somewhat madness of it all.

I certainly go out! The only year I didnt was last year when I was 7 monthes pregnant with my twins! Me, my girlfriend and our moms have a tradition to go shopping very early and we spilt the deals up into the mom and daughter groups and attach more area at once. This year wil mark 5 + years we have been crazy enough to do this!! The we go to Breakfast!

    It is a great time!

I’ve only done it once. Fortunately, I was able to drag my husband along with me. He would drive me to the stores, drop me out front, then park. When I was ready to leave all I had to do was call him on his cell and he would drive up and pick me up. If that wasn’t enough, he even treated me to a lovely lunch at a local restaurant.
By the end of the day I was exhausted…but it was fun!
Now, I try to get most of my shopping done before BF. The sales are just as good and everything is in stock.

I stopped doing “Black Friday” many years ago. I do all my shopping online. You will find the same “Black Friday” deals online plus many more not offered in-store. Plus, online, they start running “Black Friday” deals at the beginning of October. I get all the “Black Friday” alerts and deals right into my email. Given all this, I can’t imagine why people still waste the gas and drive themselves crazy running from store to store between certain times. By the way, the really good “Black Friday” deals in-store go live online the night before already.

I went out on Black Friday last year…and that is the very last time I will ever make that mistake! People go nuts and are totally ruthless when it comes to saving $5 or MAYBE getting that one specialty item before everyone else; which is totally not worth the effort at all for me. Thank for the great giveaway! I’d rather eat on Black Friday anyway! ;)

I have gone shopping on Black Friday before but I would never get up at 2:00am to sit outside of Walmart or any other store in an attempt get the one of 5 special TV’s or some ludicrous venture of this sort. I would rather be snug in my bed and get up with the family the next day and enjoy leftovers and coffee and whisky nogs etc. Way more fun.

I’ve never been brave enough to do the very early black friday shopping. I went just once at noon to a Target but everything was on the floor and most things were gone. It was a mess and I could barely walk around before getting pushed.

I have only ever been out on Black Friday once when we were visiting my parents in a tiny town in Florida and it was only because we knew there wouldn’t be a lot of people around. I don’t do crowds and I can’t stand rude people so I don’t do well on black Friday’s around where we live. Anyway long story short (too late) no, I do most of my holiday shopping online to avoid rude pushy people.

I will stay in bed—-2 years ago my teens needed laptops—best**y had a great deal —I stood in line for 7 hours they handed out tickets—explained they had 10 laptops for the deal—I had ticket number 4—and when I got to the door—no laptops left —same thing with the xbox, playstation, cameras etc—they handed out the tickets at midnight doors opened at 5:00am so they new when they handed out all the fake tickets that we would have to stand in the cold for another 5 hours and not get what we wanted–it was wrong. In line everyone was really nice sharing blankets and hot chocolate but people got ugly not towards each other they were angry at the store—–and the police were brought in. It kind of made me not want to go ever again!

I used to go black friday shopping every year with my step sister-in-law. It was tradition. Thanksgiving dinner up north with DH’s mom and her dad, then we’d get up way early the next morning and drive an hour to the closest shopping town (they live in the middle of nowhere), and we’d shop til we dropped.
Well, this year DH’s mom passed away. We decided to have Thanksgiving with my parents. Which leaves me with no black friday shopping buddy…ugh!
My son offered but taking him bf shopping FOR him just doesn’t work for me.

Thank you for the great giveaway!

When my mother was alive we were BIG TIME Black Friday shoppers. We’d plot our stop the night before and then set the alarm and head out in the wee hours of the morning and shop all day. When all the door busters were over, we’d stop also for a little break to rejuvenate and check over our lists to see how we were doing.

She’s since passed away, and so I don’t do that any more, but I remember it fondly.

    Thanks.
