Fat Burnin’ Friday: Weight Loss Progress So Far


For many of you, this may be the 4th week of your Fat Burnin’ journey this year. Research says that people give up by now. Actually, gyms are offering incentives starting in February because people have dropped their memberships already. I hope you are proud of what you have accomplished so far!

In an effort to encourage, I wanted to share, again, my weight loss progress. Ever so slow – sometimes my efforts produced great results. Other times, I was so discouraged by how much I had done and got nada! My progress was slow and steady. Looking back, I am happy about that since I am where I am now!

Here it is – when it all began one year ago this month!

Feb 2008:5 Pounds Down (10 Pounds total)
Mar 2008:4 Pounds Down (14 Pounds total)
Apr 2008:5 Pounds Down (19 Pounds total)
May 2008:5 Pounds Down (24 Pounds total)
Jun 2008:3 Pounds Down (27 total)
Jul 2008:2 Pounds Down (29 total)
Aug 2008:2 Pounds Down (31 total)
Sep 2008:0 Pounds Down (31 total/no change)
Oct 2008:1 Pounds Down (32 total)
Nov 2008:0 Pounds Down (32 total/no change)
Dec 2008:+2 Pounds Up (30 total) *slacked in November/December*
Jan 2009:5 Pounds Down (35 total)

So, you can clearly see there were months I did great. My goal was to lose 1-2 pounds per week since that’s the healthiest way to go. I did do that some months but as I have gotten closer to my goal, it’s coming off ever so slow. However, this month I think my body got a jumpstart to burn since I did majorly slack on exercise and eating during the holidays. You can see that even though I wasn’t as focused, the scales moved very little. I 110% believe no major gain is a direct result of achieving my weight loss slow and steady!

I’m sure I could have lost a lot more using more drastic measures, but what would have happened come the holidays and I wanted to relax a little? Oh, I’ll tell you what would happen (since I’ve done like every diet in the universe), it would all come back: I would give up and go back to being frustrated about the weight I wanted gone. That didn’t happen because I chose to focus on the small wins rather than the big goal of 40 pounds. And, I knew that no matter what, my goals were unwavering with this. So, yeah, I took a small break but it didn’t hurt. I know my goal will be achieved…you know come high water and stuff.

How did you do this week? Share your fitness/weight loss goals for the next month. Try breaking it down into a small chunk for you to focus on this upcoming month. At the end of the month, you’ll be able to assess your progress and focus on the future!

    I agree with you that slow and steady is the way to go. Although, I would like to see more, I know I need to do more in order to get there. But, I’ve come to find that making small changes at a time isn’t so overwhelming and doesn’t really seem like much at all. So, I’m with ya!

    Andrea, you’re doing great. And the best part is by making slow changes you build new healthy habits that will stick.

    I think shock dieting is self-destructive in so many ways.

    i finally started my weight loss goal! i also would like to lose 40 lbs. let’s support each other in this goal. :)

    I know this reply is a little late but I just wanted to say thanks again for commenting and participating!

    And, yes, we will all encourage each other no matter how far along the weight loss journey we are! It is possible and we can support everyone!!!
