Fat Burnin’ Friday: Fiber and Water = Good Results

Guess what??? The good news is just out up front – I lost 2 pounds. Can I get a WOOT WOOT!!! But, it certainly didn't just melt away from me *willing* it off. It involved, yeap – you guessed it – sweat and sacrifice!

I got my butt on that treadmill and I showed it who was boss – know what I'm talking about? :-) And, I stuck to our menu plan this week and that was a huge help. I tried to include whole grain foods that would keep me full longer. And, this always helps…

Fiber and Water = Good Results For Me

Did you notice the water in there too? Fiber without water = a very crampy bad situation! The suggested daily intake for fiber is 25-35 grams a day. Do you know how hard that is to get in? For me, it's VERY hard! So, I throw a little Benefiber in sauces/mixtures to get it in.

I know, I know – it's better to get your nutrients from food but have you tried to eat that much fiber in a day? You are eating nonstop and it's hard because you're really full so you actually don't want to eat, at least for me. When I can get the fiber from a good snack, it's like a SWEET bonus!

  1. Have you picked up the Benefiber drink mix ins at Walgreens this week? I like those and they are an easy way to get fiber and water! They are on sale 2/$10, and you get $5 RR. There are multiple $2 off coupons out–1/4, 12/14 and I think some others. After RR, that is $1 for 2 boxes!

  2. Great tip on the fiber. I’m enjoying your site.

Great job Andrea!! I know how you feel .. about all of it, I’m still trying to lose my ‘baby weight’ and my baby is 5 .. Ouch! I’ve got about 15 more that I’d like to lose, that would get me down to what I weighed when I was in my 20’s so who knows if that’ll happen. Thankfully, I’m 6′ tall so I hide the extra weight well, except for the caboose following me :)

I like the Fiber one bars too .. as well as mixing in Kroger brand bran buds (I think they are like 11 or 13g fiber per 1/3 c, Kroger brand has the most fiber that I have seen) in with my yogurt .. and now, if you use splenda, they have it with fiber.

Keep up the great work, slap that treadmill silly!

  6. Congrats on the weight loss!! I have not gotten back at it yet! :o(

For getting some fiber in, I like the packets that you add to a bottle of water. Special K and South Beach Living each have good ones that include fiber!

Congratulations on the weight loss. I know how hard it is.

  14. Adding fiber- if you have kids that just love chocolate- try taking chocolate cake mix, add in a can of pureed pumpkin, bake in cupcake pans. They are a bit sticky but then the kiddos get fiber without you having to shove it down their throat!

My tip is WATER WATER AND MORE WATER!! Keeps you regular and keeps hunger in check!

  19. We’ve started eating more fiber in our household also. We are trying to view it as a lifestyle change. One product we have found in our searches is Brownberry’s Double Fiber Bread. It has 6 grams of fiber in one slice. We also found out from the Mayo Clinic that split peas have the most grams of fiber of any vegetable.
