Bloggy Giveaway!!!

by Savings Lifestyle: Andrea on December 15, 2008

***This giveaway is now closed to entries.***

I love, love, love me some Marshall’s and T.J. Maxx when it comes to finding bargains! Both stores are great places to find high-end designer clothes drastically reduced. So, when I was offered a gift card for each store I was so excited because, as a bargain shopper, these two stores are at the top of my list for frugal gems.

I always check into T.J. Maxx for good bargains. I inevitably always make it there for at least one item for my Christmas list. We’re not that close to a Marshall’s, but while we were on vacation this summer we swung in to hunt for deals. I purchased several new pieces for my fitness wardrobe for a steal! I hadn’t bought any new exercise clothes up until that point – because I guess when I think of clothes I’m going to sweat in, I don’t get picky :-) But, I was excited to find some high quality, name brands for a fraction of the cost. I’m still kicking myself for not getting the other Nike Dri Fit shirt in pink!

Anyhoo – on to the giveaway! I have up for grabs two $25 gift cards: one $25 T.J. Maxx AND one $25 Marshall’s gift cards. I will be selecting two random entries as the winners.

To have a chance at winning one of these gift cards, please leave me a comment and tell me what the best bargain you have found at T.J. Maxx or Marshall’s during your frugal shopping. That, of course, is assuming you have shopped there. If you haven’t shopped there – just leave me a comment! Of course, please leave your email address in case I can’t find you at a blog!

This giveaway will end on December 18 @ 10p (EST).

I just went there Saturday and got a good deal on english breakfast teas, coffee, scone mixes, and chocolates to put together a basket.

Oddly enough, our Marshalls and TJ Maxx are in the same shopping center, just doors down from each other. It’s obvious they carry the same things, so I usually only visit the TJ Maxx. Strange!

I would love to use these. The last time I was there was about a year ago but I found a great sweatshirt on the clearance rack for 4.50. This is a great store but it is hard to go in there and not go over board for me.

I love TJMaxx!!! I lived in England for 3 yrs. with my husband’s job, and in the UK it is called TKMaxx :-)) My friends and I made frequent trips there, always wandering around looking for fantastic items for cheap! Anytime I need a birthday present for a childrens party, TJMaxx is the place to find it. They have Melissa and Doug wooden toys and puzzles at such a GREAT bargain. I am so broke right now, and a gift card would be right up me alley! :-) mama underscore kam27 at yahoo dot com

I don’t shop there too often, but last year we were desperate for some modest nightgowns for my daughter. We finally found affordable nightgowns at Marshalls. I was thrilled. I’d love to win the gift cards, because she needs new ones! Thanks!!! Jennifer momofknt at yahoo dot com

I just moved here from Florida so I was in desperate need of winter clothes since I’v never been in this kind of weather!! I was on a budget so I headed to TJ Maxx in Tri County, believe it or not I found a super cute Zara trench coat for $35!!! I am a super fan of this brand and I was amazed to find it there and at that price. That coat could’ve easily cost $100 or more regular price.

I also found some designer gloves and scarves. I’ve been to bth stores before but never found such great deals as I did in the one here :)

We have T.J. Maxx here finally! I once purchased a whole wardrobe in one trip for under $200. Skirts, blouses, jackets, pants, scarves, etc. I was a single working mom and student on a really tight budget! Those beautiful clothes lasted years and held up to the wear and tear of my work, school, kids. I love that place.

The best bargain we have ever found at TJMaxx was for our then 3 year old. They had the Thomas DVDs with special edition trains attached at a fraction of the price. They also had great Thomas accessories that were electronic which fit with the wooden track. All of these were bought for much, much less than we would have paid at another store. I am new to the blogging world, but not new to the bargain hunting and coupon world of which I have been working hard at for over 10 years. I am a married homeschooling mother of 4 ages 6,5,2, and 4 mths and I just want to say thank you for all your help and all the hard work!! I love TJ Maxx and Marshalls and I would say my best bargain was at both stores on the same day – I got 2 Kathy Van Zeeland handbags(one at each store) that were retailing that very day in the malls and on QVC for $89.99 and I got them for $29.99 each! I was so excited that has been around 2 years ago and I am still carrying both and they look great! Thanks again!! jjrhodamomof4 jcastle2@cinci.rr.com

It wasn’t too recent, but my favorite body butter is from Bliss Spa. They stopped carrying their “plum plum” scent. I found it at TJ Maxx for $14.99. Now with more kiddos, I can’t even seem to splurge for the $14.99, but thankfully, I use mine sparingly and have made it last!

I guess I’d have to say the best deal I’ve gotten there was the summer I needed a new dress for a singing group I was traveling with. I was the only girl, so I didn’t have to worry about matching anybody. I was given $50 and told I could buy 1 or 2 dresses. (Yea, they already knew I was a bargain shopper!) I knew I’d have to do some hard searching though, to get a dress for that price. I was joking to some of the others in the group that I was going to go over to Jones New York to pick out my dress. Well, when I did do my shopping at TJ Maxx, I came out with a two piece dress for $25! Guess what brand? Jones New York!

I think my favorite, most memorable deal I found at TJMaxx was a MegaBlocks Piano toy purchased 6 years ago. My daughter was 18 mos old and had played with it elsewhere. We didn’t have much money at all that Christmas and I really wanted to buy that toy for her. Wal-Mart was selling it for around $25 and that was just too much for us. I had gone into TJMaxx and found it for less than $15! I was so estactic! They only had the one too! I really felt like someone was looking out for us…

The best deals I find at TJ Maxx are on kids clothes. I work really close to one so I frequent it about once a week. On my last run I got my daughter 3 shirts, 1 sweater and 1 pants and my son 1 wind suit, 2 t-shirts and a pair of Jammies for $28.64. I also must add that all of these were Ralph, Calvin and Juicy Couture. I was so excited. I find that you have to go at least once a week to catch the really good stuff on sale.

I love both these stores– I get the majority of my clothes, shoes, accessories there. I can usually find things that are unique and just my style.
The best shopping experience I ever had at Marshall’s was when I had a wish list I was trying to fulfill for a couple of girls from a family that was struggling, around Christmas time last year. The girls had some very specific requests, including a hair straightener, scrapbooking supplies, a fairy full-size comforter, and a jewelry box with a little fairy that spun around. I had no idea where I was going to find a jewelry box like that! I stopped at Marshall’s one evening and took a walk around- and lo and behold, I found the hair straightener, a full-size fairy comforter, a scrapbooking set, and, to my extreme shock, a jewelry box with the fairy that spun around. All at great prices, of course. That shopping trip gave me chills!

Last year I had a giftcard to use and found an awesome hoodie jacket. I loved it because it has an anchor on it and reminds me of a tattoo I’m working on. I still wear that jacket all the time! It was such a great deal and the quality of it has lasted all year and has a TON of life left in it.

I also recently bought my one year old a lot of toys there. I found a Tigger (and pooh) book box set for $5 one time! I think it had around 8 board books in it. Pretty sweet deal! I LOVE the toy sections there!

The only thing I suggest is that you try on all clothing before buying it because different designers design a size 12 a little differently than the other. It’s more heartbreaking for me to return it once I’ve brought it home than it is to put it back on the rack after I realized it was too small or too big in the dressing room.

We also have a Marshalls and TJ Max just down from one another. I don’t mind … I think it keeps the competition up and prices down.

About the best deal I can remember offhand was for my now 16 year old. I got tired of hearing the cries and pleas for a pair of new jeans — rather than hand-me-downs, garage sale finds, or consignment stores. She wanted new designer/name brand jeans. Eventually I gave in, handed her a $20 bill, and told her I would go no higher.

When the shopping dust cleared we had a pair of jeans she wore until they disintegrated (literally) two years later, 2 tanks, 2 adorable blouses for layering, a belt, earrings, a hair adornment, and … drum roll, please … change. Okay, so the change came to just over $1. Still, I couldn’t have done much better going to our local consignment store.

I shopped at a Marshalls years ago when I lived in another state and I dont remember the bargain I found there. I think it might have been a jacket for my daughter. I never shopped at a TJ Maxx as it was too far away.

However a TJ Maxx has opened up about 45 minutes from me so I would love to check them out.

I do some major bargain damage at Marshalls every time I visit, I’ve purchased pretty much all my sheet sets there, they are never irregulars, high thread count, low prices, but my all time favorite was a complete bedding set that I found walking in the door, I fell in love with it, grabbed it, and as I went along the aisles, I found matching decor items for that set, even matching PJ’s, when I got my haul to the counter it was like the tv comedy show sketch, I thought my cashier was going to leave me standing there while she scooped stuff up for herself. Everyone raves about my bedroom, how it looks out of a magazine, if only they knew just how little I paid for it all.

I haven’t been to either store in a while. However, back in 2007 I found a great deal on shoes at both T.J.Maxx and Marshall’s. The shoes were black athletic type shoes and the brand was Polo Ralph Lauren. They were selling for only $10.00 on clearance which was such a steal considering similar shoes were selling at Target and Walmart for more. They were really decent shoes too and I got great use out of them. That’s why I continue to love T.J. Maxx and Marshall’s so much. You can really find some great deals at each store. This is a great giveaway and I really hope I win. Thanks.

But the expense of obtaining everything I needed for the trip was overwhelming, and I knew I still needed a formal gown. My husband and I got married in May 2007. We found a comfortor that we liked at Bed bath and Beyond. IT was a nautirca brand and the comfortor with the accessories was close to $500!! We received some of the stuff from our wedding. However, one day while shopping at Tj Maxx I came across a Hotel Collections comfortor set that came with everything for $100! It was identical to the nautica stuff that we would have paid over $500 for. I was so excited and we were able to use the money we saved on other things for our home! :)

I just love to shop at TJMaxx and Marshalls! They are my favorite go to place when I want to get some new brand name clothes for either my 3 children or my husband and I. I have found so many amazing bargains and deals over the years. One bargain that stand out to me are some Seven for all Mankind jeans that I was able to purchase for $24.99 at Marshalls! They usually sell for well over $75-125.00 anywhere else! These jeans fit me like a glove and I have been wearing them for a couple of years now. They are very hot jeans, great style, great detail work, and I love them. I have also purchased a couple of Columbia Sportswear jackets for my husband at TJMaxx. If I remember correctly I paid $49.99 for each jacket and again these retail normally for well over $100!! I know there are many, many more bargains I could list. I thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity to enter. Money is tight and these GC’s sure come in handy with 3 young children. Happy Holidays too!
