Soul Snack: Then Sings My Soul Saturday

As parents, we are always trying to shelter our children so they don't see what the world really is all about. I'm terrified of the thought of my children being exposed to something that isn't Christ-like. I'm not naive in that it won't happen, but I know once their eyes are opened to the way the world really is, it's like a veil of innocence will be torn away…I don't want that for them so I'll try for as long as I can to keep them away from those outside factors.

In my youth, I was slowly fading away. No, I wasn't doing anything horrible, but that's the thing. Certain things became acceptable and my faith, while it wasn't firmly grounded, faded. All of those outside factors that I want to protect from my children, came into play and caused the light to fade.

Praise God I'm on fire for Him today…but, this song is a reality – even for Christians who go to church every week. In my walk, I need to focus on His word so I don't fade! I want that fire, passion, and light to be as bright as the northern star! My prayer is that the Lord will use me and the thought of fading will simply fade away.

What a powerful song. I agree…we need to be on guard & focused on Christ at all times to avoid the black & white turning to gray. Great song & post!

That is my prayer that my kids be sheltered by a hedge of protection, not only physically but spiritually. As we sit in church I pray that the sermon deeply penetrates into their hearts and will be revealed on a day that they need it. Wonderful post. God help me to keep my fire burning.

This is my favorite song lately. I try so hard to shelter my youngest child (age 3) from just about everything right now, so that her faith can grow and she can be firmly grounded in Christ before she must face worldly evils.
