Giving Back: Holiday Style!

by Savings Lifestyle: Andrea on November 07, 2008

There are thousands of organizations in need, and Christmas seems to be the time when the needs increase. Here is a round-up of a few blogaristas who are issuing a challenge or providing information to give to an organization they support:

Mom Advice

Amy is giving to support her community in Elkhart, Indiana. She is taking some well-deserved publicity she has received and getting her voice heard! I encourage you to take a peek at Amy’s post on her “Big Give” here.

Nickels-N-Dimes

Becky is challenging everyone to become a Christmas Crusader! She wants you to give – to anyplace that has a need for your time, items, donations. Whatever you are called to give during this Holiday season, you can become a Crusader! You can read all the Christmas Crusade here.

Mommies With Cents

The gals are at Mommies With Cents are encouraging giving to our 4-legged friends during this Holiday season. You can see all the details on the Power of Paws here (expired).

Operation Christmas Child

You can read the snack I shared here (expired) detailing Operation Christmas Child. It’s a great way to get your kids involved in giving this season!

Everyday Giving

Even though the holiday season is upon us, there are several AMAZING sites that encourage everyday giving! Please check them out here (expired). There are giveaways for participants and the ladies hosting these are GREAT!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you are a long-time reader, you know that giving back is important to me. God has blessed our family with an abundance that we are called to share. We can’t always provide additional financial support, but I can flex my “deal-seekin’” muscle to get things super cheap and pass on!

Blogger or not, if you have information on a personal organization you like to give to during the Holidays (or anytime for that matter), please leave details in the comments section. The fact that you are giving to something is so SWEET and totally snackworthy :-) You might inspire someone else to give too!

    Great post! I contribute to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org). I lost my Dad to this disease 5 years ago. This organization provides resources and support for those diagnosed and their families, and lobbies for additional funding for cancer research. November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month–thus the purple ribbon on my blog.

    My son and I are doing the shoeboxes for Samiaritan’s purse this year. Last year (ON Christmas no less) he discovered that there is no Santa. I told him that while there was no mman named Santa, that Santa’s of all types are alive and well. And while he had his time to enjoy being the recipient of Santa’s magic, he is now old enough to become a Santa himself. I asked him to imagine waking up to no Santa and how that would feel. Well, we can be Santa to those who would otherwise not experience the magic a Santa provides. He loved the idea and we are so going with it!
