Savings Snack: Week of September 8

by Savings Lifestyle: Andrea on September 12, 2008

Updated with new total from all of today’s shopping!!

I haven’t been to the drugstores in a while so it was nice to feel the adrenaline going again – drugstores do that to me :-) Here’s my pics with totals and savings for the week (so far):

CVS

Total OOP: $10.72 (I used a gift card so no money from my budget :-)
Total Saved: $17.30 which included $10 in ECB’s

I had $10 in ECB’s that were expiring so I decided to buy the Neutrogena that is on for September. I love rolling my ECB’s! And, I was so excited to find the Malt-O-Meal Tootie Fruities! FREE cereal – who doesn’t love that!

Walgreens

Total OOP: $13.56
Total Saved: $61.44 which included a $10 RR.

I did two transactions so I could use the $10 RR from the Robitussin deal and buy the Scrubbing Bubbles. My total OOP on the Scrubbing Bubbles would have been $10.68 with all of the products listed above PLUS I got the $10 RR to use next time – getting stuff near FREE just makes me want to clean…well, I wouldn’t go that far :-)

Target

Total OOP: $54.37
Total Saved: $22 which included a $5 Target Gift Card (from last week’s sale)

OK, not the greatest savings but I do have another $5 Target Gift Card to use next week from doing the Luvs diaper deal. I also saw some frames on clearance for $3 and picked up 3 sets (there are 2 frames in each so really good price). The Huggies Clean Team wipes were on sale @ $1.99 a box which was a nice surprise since those coupons are one of the SMART coupons I carry with me (since I’m a file-by-insert kinda gal)! And, like it needs said, but we’re stocked up on Cheetos for a while :-) rrrrrrrrrrrrrr (Andon wrote this so I’m leavin’ it :-) Here are some of the deals I purchased matched in case you’re interested:

  • $15 Luvs Box DiapersBuy 2 Boxes receive a $5 Target Gift Card. Coupon Match: $2 Target Printable PLUS the $1 coupon in the 8/31 P&G Insert). Net Price: $24 PLUS you get the $5 Target Gift Card to use next time (so, you could say they were $19 for 2 boxes of diapers!!!)
  • $2 Cheetos bags. Coupon Match: $1 Target Printable. Net Price: $1 each.
  • $1.99 Huggies Clean Team Wipes. Coupon Match: $3 on 2 Clean Team products in the 7/20 Smart Source Insert. Net Price: $.50 each.

Meijer
Total OOP: $22.12
Total Savings: $76.49 which included a $3 Catalina

Nothing too exciting at Meijer this week. I got a good stockpile of boxed potatoes. We can never seem to keep potatoes from growing ears since we don’t eat them often (any tips??) so the boxed work well for us! I did get the Catalina for buying the Land O Lakes butter so that made me smile!!

Kroger

Total OOP: $37.61
Total Savings: $115.06 which included $5.50 in Catalinas

OK, I have soup for a while! I was completely out of soup and fruit snacks and this sale and promotion came at the perfect time! I stockpiled soup, chex mix, fruit snacks and taco seasoning – all staples in our house that we use lots of! Also, here’s the details on a few Catalina offers in case you haven’t heard (which are good at Kroger and Meijer):

  • General Mills Fruit Snacks: 9/12 – 10/5 – Buy 3, receive a $1.50 Catalina for your next order. Buy 4, receive a $2.50 Catalina for your next order. Buy 5 or more, receive a $3.50 Catalina for your next order.
  • Powerade Zero: 9/5 – 9/28 – Buy 4, receive a $2 Catalina for your next order. Buy 5, receive a $3 Catalina for your next order, Buy 6 or more, receive a $4 Catalina for your next order. This is only good on the Zero type not the regular type.

I did two transactions since I had 75 items that qualified for the $3 off promotion (and the limit is 3 – $3 off per transaction). So, I did the powerade and gushers transaction first and got the $3.50 catalina for gushers and $2 for the Powerade….SWEET! I then flipped and used those on my second transaction – oh happy days!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

New Grand Total: $127.68 (CVS was from a gift card so no OOP on that one)
Savings so far: $303.01 (which includes my CVS gift card savings)

This has turned out to be a really good stockpiling week that will help me save lots more in the weeks ahead! Good thing I came under budget last week to make up for it! If ya want to see all the weekly matches of Kroger, Meijer, CVS and Walgreens, be sure to check out my weekly Snack Summary!

I always share all my savings around the blogosphere with some other super savin’ ladies: MoneySavingMom, BeCentsAble (Show and Tell) and the “Cent”sible Sawyer (CVS Superstars and Drugstore Divas). Be sure to visit their links to see how others made out this shopping week too!!

I just got back from Target because I wanted to do the Luv’s diaper deal and they only had size 3 diapers (I need 1 and 4)! A little bummed about that.

    I was so bummed.

I got a great deal at Meijer, but the catalina did NOT print for me.

And, I didn’t know where it was advertised so that I could go to the service desk and ask. :-(

What awesome deals! I have never been a Dillon’s shopper (I think thats the same as Kroger) but I am now!

I am a new coupon user and a new CVSer, so I wanted to check this with someone I knew was more knowledgeable. My checkout lady this morning at CVS told me that she couldn’t take any internet coupons that say “veri-fi.com” because she heard they were fraudulent. Does that sound right to anyone? Almost ALL internet coupons say veri-fi.com!!! I am going back tomorrow (you have to hit my store super quick, those ecb items dissapear immediately) but I wanted to be prepared.

Hannah – I hadn’t heard the comment before on the veri-fi internet coupon. I just used several at CVS this week, in fact. I would have them contact Corporate while you’re there and see what the official policy is because I don’t think it’s what you heard.
