A few things to share this week. It was quite profitable for me:
Grand total is…$433.87! Be sure to read about each of the ways I’ve earned money by doing surveys here and using affiliates here! These earnings will go towards helping us achieve our 2008 Financial Goals!
And, be sure to look out for a great big PayDay I’ll share on Tuesday. I am so excited, this one deserves it’s own YUMMY snack!
Question.
How do you feel about the companies that want your social security number?
Do you feel comfortable giving it out?
That’s whats turning me off from doing alot of the affiliate programs.
I’ve signed up for coupons.com and amazon.com but I still haven’t given out the social security number.
Endure – when I first started with affiliates, and even some of my surveys, I was very hesitant. I have been vicitim of pfishing attempts and a stolen debit card so I know how scary and invasive that is.
The way I am comfortable is I try to do what I can to protect it. I’ve realized a thief/criminal will get whatever they want by using their criminal minds – it doesn’t matter what steps I have put in place to prevent that. I also look at the source that I am giving my information to. I personally feel that these companies are legitimate and upstanding companies who will not compromise my information. Heak, the government has proven to have issues with that (the VA, actually) :-)
I shared a post in the link below about protecting your identity. From that, I personally have a fraud alert on all of our ssn’s to make it harder for something to happen. I also get my credit report every few months to verify no funny accounts are opened that I don’t know about. And, being the anal person I am, I’m checking my current accounts everyday to ensure all charges are legit.
And, last night actually, my credit card wasn’t approving any pending charges because they felt there was too much activity on my account for the day. I found this by logging on to my online statement to see what activity was going on and there was an alert showing. I called them and they went through all the pending charges to make sure they were valid. Those are the companies I enjoy doing business with because they are just as concerned with my identity as I am.
Those are just some of the ways that don’t take a lot of effort to ensure I’m doing what I can.
Hope that helps!

Oh, one more thing to add. Most of those companies who do ask for the ssn are reporting your earnings to the government so you’ll get a 1099 at year-end. They have to do this for business purposes so they are really needing your personal information to report to the government.
Looking forward to Tuesday for more fun and exciting good news!
great job! looking forward to tuesday!
