I’ve heard several shows and read many articles on food banks lately. Well, how timely was the segment today on the Today Show discussing food banks.

The show was discussing how more and more middle class people are using a food bank because of the sluggish economy and high gas prices. Food banks, are in some instances, what is feeding families so they can continue to manage life as the know it. Obviously, there are other situations where people are just having harder times and this is a great resource to be able to go to if you or your family are in need!

Given this fact, I’m going to go through our stockpile and see what I can offer. I was just speaking to the ladies in my book club, and their church has a food bank! I was so excited about this because I’ve been wanting to find one, especially one that I’m familiar with, to support! Every little bit does help! God has given our family soooo much that it’s only serving we give back in this way too!

The Today show highlighted Feeding America ^[1] (formerly America’s Second Harvest), which is the nation’s largest charitable hunger-relief organization. They match up people wanting to give to food banks in need.

You can click here ^[2] to find a food bank close to you! Churches are another great place to offer donations. If the church themselves do not have a food bank, they more than likely can find a place that does need the donations and can deliver the goods to the food bank nearby!

Obviously, we couponers are so good at finding and stockpiling really sweet deals! I can’t always donate money to these organizations, but I can offer my stockpile that I’ve been able to purchase for a really good price! I believe this is one way God is using my talent (if you want to call it that – and we all have them) to help make a difference in someone’s life! Whatever you choose to do, just listen to God’s call on your heart and do it with joy and gladness!
